What is paediatric osteopathy?
Osteopathy employs a wholistic approach to treating the child’s body, using gentle hands-on techniques to support the body’s self-healing abilities. The osteopath is most interested in free motion and alignment of the body framework and its relationship to organ function, circulation, and the nervous system. Treatment and management are tailored to the individual patient.
The Children’s Osteopathic Centre is located within the grounds of the Melbourne Therapy Centre, a not-for-profit organisation. The Centre incorporates integrative doctors, nurses, naturopaths, masseurs, acupuncturist, maternal health nurse and a psychologist.
Christina, Joanna and Heather are passionate about treating children and have over 60 years of combined experience in paediatric care. They have all undertaken extensive postgraduate training in paediatrics and pregnancy care to ensure delivery of excellence in osteopathic healthcare.
Areas of clinical focus
At the Children’s Osteopathic Centre we treat newborn babies through to teenagers, for many common childhood conditions. Pregnant and postnatal women also form a large part of our practice. Our clinical aim is always to support each patient to reach their fullest potential.
